The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has grown to nearly 500 suspected cases and 131 deaths so far. The outbreak is caused by the Ebola Bundibugyo strain for which there is NO Vaccine. It is particularly worrying due to the late confirmation that Ebola was the cause of the recent deaths. It is thought to have been spreading since early April and the first patient has not been identified which makes contact tracing very difficult, and this is what is needed to STOP the virus from spreading far and wide. Compounded with the fact that the virus is in an area where there is conflict and distrust to outsiders also adds to the constraints that are being faced by teams trying to reduce and stop this deadly outbreak 😷How long before it IS a Pandemic..
